The hamlet of Greenlawn in Suffolk County is an active suburban community. It has activities for kids as well as adults. Popular activities for kids include the Huntington Skate Park and the Fairyland Arcade. Adults will enjoy the active nightlife and six golf courses. The Greenlawn-Centerville Historical Association sponsors community events and protects local historical places such as the John Gardiner Farm and the Suydam Homestead.

Greenlawn’s community comes together to celebrate the hamlet’s history and its heroes. Greenlawn is home to the annual Pickle Festival. The Greenlawn Fire Department hosts the annual Greenlawn Fireman’s fair every Labor Day, which is said to be the largest and longest-running such fair in New York. Singer Mariah Carey and Palm Pilot designer Jeff Hawkins both grew up in Greenlawn.
